Students celebrate at Colleton County High School's Community Drive-Through Event on June 4.

Colleton County School District hosted seven student recognition events at our schools last week, wishing our students farewell and congratulating them on achieving so much during a very challenging year.

Colleton County High School hosted a limited in-person graduation ceremony on June 6, celebrating our Class of 2020’s achievements while practicing social distancing. Students were able to invite two guests of their choosing to the event, and all attendees were asked to wear masks during the ceremony.

In addition, over 800 guests watched the event remotely through a livestream. Following graduation, the community was invited to drive through the CCHS campus to view the senior signs and posters that decorated Cougar Drive.

Bells Elementary School, Colleton County Middle School, Cottageville Elementary School, Forest Hills Elementary School, Hendersonville Elementary School and Northside Elementary School all hosted parades and drive-through farewell events from May 29 to June 4, showing off decorations, giving “socially distant hugs” at specially designed quarantine stations, and thanking their communities for their support during our extended school closure period.

All of us at the Colleton County School District want to thank our students and their families for their hard work over this closure period, and we hope to see them again soon!
