Colleton County School District Update on Temporary Policy ADD (Face Coverings)
Posted on 09/22/2021

The Colleton County School Board of Trustees voted to adopt a revised version Temporary Policy ADD (Face Coverings) during a regular meeting on Tuesday, September 21.

This policy requires that all students, staff and visitors to Colleton County School District facilities wear a protective face covering while on district properties and while using district transportation, regardless of vaccination status. This policy was adopted to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 in CCSD facilities, and was created following guidelines released by the Centers of Disease Control and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.

This policy is intended to remain in effect when the SCDHEC COVID-19 Two Week Cumulative Incident Rate for Colleton County is considered ‘high’ or ‘moderate.’ The CCSD superintendent will continually monitor this rating and report to the school board when the rating has dropped below ‘moderate’ status. At that point, the school board may consider implementing further action.

Requests for exemptions under this policy for disability, health, developmental conditions or religious exemption will be considered by the superintendent or her designee, who may request documentation supporting the exception.
