Random Admin Screenings Update

Colleton County School District Update - Random Administrative Screenings
Posted on 09/20/2021

Ensuring the safety of our students and staff, and promoting their social and emotional well-being, remains CCSD’s first priority. District officials are always ready to adopt new safety measures that will keep our school environments secure.

To this end, starting September 22, randomly selected Colleton County Middle School and Colleton County High School students will undergo random administrative screenings, twice a week, with a metal detector wand when leaving their bus or car. This new safety protocol will help the district provide an additional layer of protection for our Colleton County School District family.

Principals and assistant principals will be sent a random number each week by our school safety team to determine which students will be randomly screened. For example: if the number sent to school principals is 15, every 15th student entering the school building will undergo a random administrative screening. All screenings will be performed by specially trained staff members who are the same gender as the student being screened.

We want to thank our community in advance for their understanding and cooperation regarding this new safety protocol. Please contact the District Office at (843) 782-4510 if you have any questions or concerns about this matter.
